Community Mobilization Project for Latinos/Hispanics
SABER stands for: Salud (health), Acción (action), Bienestar (well-being), Educación (education) and Respeto (respect). SABER is a community mobilization project designed to identify, develop, and sustain leadership within Latino/Hispanic communities around the country to improve utilization of HIV VCTS, increase access to HIV prevention services and other health related services, and promote timely linkage to high-quality, continuous medical care and treatment.
SABER team captains have used skills developed in the program's years of operation to present at regional AIDS Leadership Conferences, the National Latinos and AIDS Conference, the HIV Prevention Leadership Summit, and the US Conference on AIDS.
At annual Skills Building Institutes, SABER trainers share practical skills in building networks of state-level And municipal health authorities, providers, and HIV advocates. 2011's Skills Building Institute, May 10-13 in Indianapolis, welcomed officials, providers, and community activists from Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. The toolkits, reports, and photos below are from the Indianapolis conference.
